They looked like elves

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven.

We want Heaven to be understood. And yet we forget God told us where Heaven was and it was right there. Now having Heaven right there means it is right there in our midst. Only we can't see it.

Now thinking of it doesn't make sense so lets say we walk on the same street with people who have died. They can see us but only if they are ready to see us.

Now I had an experience in Airdrie more then a year ago which bothers me. I have mentioned it before but I pray God will help me explain it. I saw two people walking across the street. I passed them and the woman winked. I stared at her because I could not state who or what she was. I have seen people who are different but she was unworldly, with a pale complexion yet one that seemed to be as a shield. She had her partner there and it wasn't a normal pair of people. Both were dressed in clothing that came right out of fiction. The best way to describe it is like blended leaves. Both were dressed the same and both could have vanished in the woods and I would never know they were there.

I think the reason I mention them is because I have thought of them often. I think they were like elves or like angels. I wanted to stop and talk to them and I wanted to find out where they were from. I even wondered if they were actors from a television series because they were both so unusual.

Yet if Heaven is that close that we see them when we are ready then why do I think of them with such awe? I think it is because they were people who had a name. A name isn't just of movie name but of time. Now imagine that they were people who had come to earth to blaze a trail. Blazing a trail meant they had come to find who was stiring up things.

Stiring up things simply means they are making waves. Now this was a time when I was in constant prayer. And I was ready for something to happen. I drove to the town of Airdrie with the hope of meeting someone. I saw them and at least she saw me. She was beautiful and I loved her but not with desire but with longing to be around her even for a moment.

It was her partner who reminded me of a movie star. She reminded me of an old friend from college. A best friend. And I had thought she was beautiful.

In a way this is what Heaven is meant to be about. It is meant to be of love. We are meant to pass people on the street and wish we could meet.

Now I do tend to move from place to place but lets speak of firmament. It simply means place or resting place or land. If we could find land we had firmament.

Now in the beginning God created the earth. But what if he also created Heaven and we didn't see it because it sounded too complicated? What if Heaven were simply above the waters or above the second waters and that was the land of Heaven.

The land of Heaven isn't of Earth it is of Heaven. Scripture clarifies it for us by capitalizing it meaning it isn't referring to the stars or to the land of earth or to the waters of earth. It is referring to the waters which are above the earth. And the waters above the earth is of Heaven.

Now if Heaven is so close to the earth then why can't we see it? The reason is we are caught in a tractor beam called Time. It is pulling us along with it so we can be part of the story of History. So we went through History and we have history of our own. So does Heaven. Heaven saw us through a glass just as we saw them through a glass.

Now the history of the two worlds is about to meet for the first time since God created all things. And that means we are on the way to meet with God and God is on the way to meet with us. And it means that we are on the right path. For we are in status quo and that means we are on the right path towards Hope and Life.

Now as to that couple? They are part of the story which is yet to come. Each part of my life and perhaps yours was meant to have a story. Each of us has thoughts and desires and mine was to meet that couple. Perhaps I will. Perhaps they will appear again before the entire episode is finished. Maybe God knew me and knew I liked being winked at by an angel. And so there was one angel I can say winked at me. And I'll remember it and her and him for a long time to come.

And maybe that is what Heaven is all about. For God takes us into His story and we pass someone on the street and we think "That was an Elf." And it was. Only we didn't know they still existed and had thought they had all vanished in a cataclysm on Mars. Or maybe on Earth. So we are part of their history as well.

It does sound like Fiction but remember that God created us with imagination. He made things that we can only imagine.

Until then remember the story isn't finished. It is just starting. And soon we'll talk and share and talk and share until the moon turns blue.
